Nasir Elected President Congratulations to Datuk Mohd Nasir Ahmad Lubis, our very own Jaringan 11 member, who has been elected as the new STARoba president for 2010-2012. This is a proud moment for Jaringan 11 and we are confident that Datuk Nasir and his team will provide the much needed leadership and direction to hold the fraternity together for a more effective STARoba and to find workable ways to help our alma mater regain its former glory.

Jumpa di Perlis Semasa dalam rangka lawatan ke Utara tahun lepas untuk menziarah Sdr Azmi Abidin yang sedang sakit ketika itu, kami singgah untuk makan tengahari di sebuah warung milik seorang bekas pelajar STAR yang telah ditetapkan sebagai tempat berjumpa dengan Sdr Azmi dan lain-lain bekas pelajar di sana. Di antara mereka hadir meraikan rombongan kami ialah Bakar Johar dari Batch #10 (1971). Beliau ialah seorang anggota kanan pasukan keselamatan di Negeri Perlis.

Visiting Fadzil and Azmi A bus load of Jaringan 11 members took a trip up north to visit Fadzil Abdul in Sungai Petani Sdr Azmi Abidin in Perlis who was then recuperating from cancer surgery. We had breakfast at Fadzil's place, which was also the pick-up point for those who drove there. On the way we were later joined by three hitch-hikers -- Azizan Yahya, Tok Wan (from First Batch!) and another old boy who's a bit younger than Tok Wan -- somewhere near Alor Setar along the North-South Highway.

Long Time No See All these happy faces were recorded at our Jaringan 11 Family Day last year when old friends got together and rekindled the good old times. Some didn't change much you'd recognise them from a mile away. Some have gained more weight around the waist, some have grown more hair while many of us have gained more face. A few turned up for the first time after having lost contact for 37 years. When it was time to part again, we said goodbye and hoped to see each other again the following year.

Dengan sedihnya dimaklumkan bahawa saudara kita Puad bin Yaakob telah kembali ke rahmat ul-Lah pada 15hb Julai 2011. Allahyarham adalah penghuni Rumah Merah ketika di STAR dan mengusahakan ladang di Jengka selepas bersara sebagai Jurutera Sivil. Semoga dia diampunkan dan ditempatkan bersama mereka yang soleh.

Jaringan 11 telah diwakili oleh Ali Yusuf yang telah menyampaikan kiriman sedekah dari kawan-kawan yang tidak dapat hadir menziarah; Azimuddin Isa, Razak Bakar (bergambar di atas bersama Roslan Ariffin dari Batch #10) dan Dr Abd Wahab Ismail.

We have found another long lost brother. Azli Haneff (joined 1971) now lives in Manjung with his family but works in Subang Jaya, where our President and several other J-11 members live! So near and yet so far, huh? And all this while, Azli has been gathering grandchildren - he has eight (and counting) of them!
